COVID-19 Information

SISSETON SCHOOL DISTRICT COVID-19 POLICY (Renewed 6-12-2023)

  1. Students and staff with COVID-19 are required to follow SD Department of Health isolation orders.

  2. The SD Department of Health determines who is considered a close contact, conducts out-of-school close contact investigations, and identifies quarantine procedures.

  3. The Sisseton School District encourages those identified as close contacts to follow the SD-DOH quarantine recommendations.

Please contact the SD Department of Health (1-800-997-2880) or https://doh.sd.gov/COVID/ for further information on quarantine and isolation periods. Students in isolation due to a positive COVID-19 test are encouraged to engage in daily online learning. Please contact your child’s building if your child needs a computer device for home use during the isolation period.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include the following:

  • Temperature 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;

  • Sore throat;

  • New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (for students with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);

  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or

  • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
