Preschool visited Sisseton Dental Clinic this week and celebrated St. Patrick's Day! Thank you to all that made this possible for our little ones. They daily live all school values and are able to learn all that is presented to them because they do. Celebrations at Westside this week. Mrs. Lagapa's class met 20 perfect attendance days and had their pizza party, Mr. Nevada and Mr. Albert work together in PE teaching basketball skills, Morning Meeting each day continues to start the day strong with greeting one another, social emotional learning and game activity as a class family, several students all dressed in pink one day, staff meeting - professional development - continue to collaborate to clarify curriculum and instruction as a team for our learners to have the highest quality opportunities to learn, JOM Volunteer Haley Amos led Dakota Language Bingo with kids - they loved it! Honor Choir well prepared to sing at Christian Women's Club invite this week! Thank you Miss Z and all for investing in Honor Choir. It was outstanding. Happy Spring Break!

Fourth and second grade have become reading partners for additional practice and time together, Mrs. Ziemer reads a story with discussion to strengthen social emotional learning with classes during library time, celebration of birthdays occur daily-Happy Birthday to YOU!, small group cooperative learning and discussion about the Stamp Act (4th grade), outstanding staff support our learners each day to build a culture for learning, a safe place to learn, grow and achieve.
Congratulations to our January W.A.V.E learners, nominated and recognized for daily living all school values.
Last but not least in anyway. We get to link arms together for all of this to be a daily BIG WIN! STATE CHAMPION for CHILDREN BIG WIN!
Education is a team effort and we thank you in advance for what you begin at home with all learners at a young age. When values, boundaries, respect and responsibility are present, safety for learning occurs! Thank You!

Two of our fourth grade classes visited SWO Tribal Headquarters today. Joey Bird did an outstanding job as he taught the history of the area, districts and provided several opportunities to learn the language. The students and staff attended Tribal Council, learned a new game and were given a pizza lunch from the SWO Education Department. Thank you Dr. Sherry Johnson and all who made this day possible. Celebrating small wins and big wins each week. Congratulations to Miss Santiago's class for 20 perfect days attendance - all students here on time all day - they enjoyed a pizza party this week! Attendance matters, it shows daily in our students behaviorally and academically on time everyday all day makes a difference now and will for the future. Fourth grade community visit to Edgewood, reading together aloud in class and to one another in the hallway, learning to play ukuleles in music class, students with zero office referrals and excellent attendance shine bright at Westside, 2nd and 4th graders practice skills together and preschool preparing for their post office visit. A few highlights of all we get to learn and how at Westside this week!

Kindergarten registration and screening was a special day as we met several of our incoming learners and families for the 26-27 school year. Thank you to our teachers and staff that made this possible and a special shout out to Emma Narboneta and friends that made the balloons and decorations for the day.

Registration continues, visit the administration office to enroll your child if you plan for him/her to attend Westside for preschool or kindergarten (2026-27).
