READ~READ~READ WESTSIDE WAVE LEARNERS!
Benefits of Summer Reading
For students, continuing the act of reading no matter the text helps them retain literacy skills over the summer and into the incoming academic year. Research confirms that with just 15 minutes of reading any text at all per day (and yes, graphic novels and magazines count), kids will continue to benefit from skills they developed in the previous school year.
Engagement in summer learning programs has shown promising results, with participants often showing gains in reading skills equivalent to an additional month of school. Such programs are also linked to higher graduation rates and improved self-esteem among students. KEEP READING this SUMMER WESTSIDE WAVE LEARNERS!
